Bike Engineer School Chair

Who are Bike Engineer School Chairs?

Bike Engineer School Leaders are volunteers who organize MIT PN2K Bike Engineer School so participants interested in becoming certified as a “Bike Engineer” through PN2K can gain basic bike repair and training skills that they can later impart on others.

Why does MIT PN2K need Bike Engineer School Chairs?

Bike Engineer School is the foundation of MIT PN2K, and our leaders help to ensure that we have a continuous stream of talent who can offer their time to making the MIT community a safer place to ride a bike. Without Bike Engineer School, we would not have knowledgeable staff who can offer much needed resources to the larger biking community.

What are the benefits to becoming a Bike Engineer School Chair?

  • Free one-day gear rental per workshop session organized
  • Access to professional bike repair guidance and support during bike repair workshop sessions
  • Full access to MIT PN2K bike repair resources, tools, and bike professionals during Bike Engineer School

Who can become a Bike Engineer School Chair?

We choose our Bike Engineer School Leaders based upon their interest in biking and bike safety. They are usually folks who want to make the cycling community safer and more technically skilled and have a keen interest in learning and imparting knowledge to others. We prefer our Bike Engineer School Leaders to be prior or current “Bike Engineers” and have demonstrated previous experience with assisting others with bike repair before.

What is required of Bike Engineer School Chairs?

Bike Engineer School Leaders must see through an entire Bike Repair School session from Step 1 to Step 3, which might be over the span of several months. For this reason, we require that they have good lines of communication.

How can I become a Bike Engineer School Chair?
