Desk Workers

Who are desk workers?

Desk workers are volunteers who are part of MIT PN2K staff. They hold office hours, help answer club-related and gear-related questions, and maintain the office. They can assist you with MIT PN2K bike gear and other purchases. Some of our desk workers (Bike Engineers) know a few bike mechanical skills and can help assist with basic bike repair needs.

Who can be a desk workers?

Desk workers are entrusted with a lot of responsibility, and are therefore selected from participants who demonstrated a vested interest in helping the community and learning/teaching bike repair. Desk workers usually show their commitment from participating in several of MIT PN2K's past bike fests, events, rides, or workshops.

What are the benefits of being a desk worker?

Desk workers receive $15 MIT PN2K credit towards renting gear, bike trips, and admittance to events/workshops per shift worked. They also have 24/7 access to the MIT PN2K office so they can rent gear whenever they need.

Can we rent gear from desk workers?

We are working on a system of renting out bike gear (helmets, bikes, etc).
